Manorfield C. E. Primary School’s Full Governing Body is divided into two committees with responsibility for specific areas of the school’s strategic planning.  These meet termly in addition to the four Full Governing Body meetings held throughout the year.  The Headteacher and Chair of Governors sit on all committees.  Remaining members sign up to these committees depending on their areas of expertise and interest.  In addition, the Governing Body sets up working parties as and when necessary to consider particular issues as they arise e.g. parent surveys, Academy Status, improving Governing Body practice.


Chair: Nicky Stratford

This committee focuses on the quality of education that the school provides through the curriculum. It has a strategic overview of what is taught and how teaching and learning are organised.  It has a particular focus on the academic progress of pupils, regularly scrutinising summaries of progress data provided by the school and considers ways in which the school should move forward.  It makes recommendations to the Finance and Staffing Committee as to what financial decisions should be made in order to improve pupil progress e.g. staffing, tracking systems, bought-in teaching programmes or training.

This committee considers Manorfield C. E. Primary School’s budgetary needs and discusses proposed spending plans.  It supports the school in creating a long-term and sustainable financial strategy.  It looks at the staffing needs of the school and oversees the Pay Policy that the school has adopted.  This committee also looks at the maintenance of the school site, with particular reference to health & safety issues.  It ensures  the site is appropriate for Manorfield children and their specific needs.  The committee also looks at the most appropriate ways for the outside community to make use of the school site, in a way that is beneficial to all.  The Curriculum Committee passes its recommendations to this committee for approval.
